The Vidhyadeep Institute of Nursing proudly celebrated World Heart Day 2025 on 29th September 2025 at the Vidhyadeep University campus. The event was convened by Dr. Vinil U., In-charge Principal, with Dr. Neethu M. Domsil, Associate professor and Ms. Femida Mulla, Nursing tutor serving as co-conveners. The program was jointly organized by the dedicated faculty members and enthusiastic students of the Institute.
INAUGURAL SESSION
The celebration commenced in the open courtyard of the University with a solemn prayer in the presence of faculty members, invited dignitaries, and members of the public. The special guests for the day included Dr. Vilin Parekh (Registrar, Vidhyadeep University), Mr. Mukund Patel (Campus Director), and all the deans and principals of the various institutes under Vidhyadeep University.
The program was skillfully anchored by Ms. Anjali D. Patel (Assistant Professor) and Ms. Kinjal Patel (Nursing Tutor). Dr. Neethu M. Domsil delivered the welcome address, extending warm greetings to the esteemed guests, invitees, and community members.
The cultural segment began with a vibrant welcome dance presented by the sixth semester B.Sc. Nursing students, followed by a symbolic march for heart health, signifying collective responsibility in promoting cardiovascular well-being. The fourth semester students then staged a lively aerobic performance, demonstrating the role of regular exercise in maintaining heart health and encouraging the audience to participate actively.
HEALTH CHECK UP AND AWARENESS DRIVE
A free cardiovascular risk profiling camp was organized as part of the event. Multiple stations were arranged by the nursing students and faculty, including registration, health history collection, anthropometric measurements, and vital sign assessments. Risk stratification was conducted using the WHO Cardiovascular Risk Chart, categorizing participants into low, moderate, and high-risk groups.
Special counseling sessions were provided for moderate and high-risk individuals, led by Dr. Vinil U. and Dr. Neethu M. Domsil, focusing on lifestyle modification, early screening, and preventive measures.
In addition, a Heart-Healthy Exhibition was displayed, where students showcased various aspects of cardiac health, including disease risk factors, preventive strategies, and models of cardiac conditions. A nutrition corner demonstrated practical dietary approaches with healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options that emphasized low-calorie, low-fat, and high-protein diets, along with the importance of incorporating fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
AFTERNOON SESSION: SEMINAR AND CULTURAL EVENTS
Post-lunch, the celebration continued in the Seminar Hall, beginning with a lamp-lighting ceremony graced by the Honourable Vice President of Vidhyadeep University. The formal session highlighted the significance of the World Heart Day 2025 theme – “Don’t Miss a Beatâ€, explained by Dr. Vinil Upendrababu, who emphasized the importance of prevention, timely action, and awareness.
The Vice President addressed the gathering with an insightful and motivational speech, underlining the global burden of cardiovascular diseases and the collective responsibility of healthcare professionals and the community in combating them.
The fourth semester students presented a thematic drama that creatively conveyed the importance of heart health and preventive strategies, followed by a spirited dance performance to reinforce the message of active living.
CLOSING SEREMONY
The day concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Manish Dafda (Assistant Professor, Vidhyadeep Institute of Nursing), who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and the wider community for their support. He also acknowledged the dedicated contributions of students whose hard work ensured the success of the program, with special mention of Mr. Steven, Mr. Anas, Ms. Krishna, Ms. Ayushi, Mr. Smit Raj, Ms. Esther, Ms. Ansu, Ms. Disha, Ms. Zeba, Ms. Praisy, Ms. Archana, Ms. Sujitha, Ms. Salomi, Ms. Snehal, Mr. Honey, Mr. Ankit, Mr. Arman, Mr. Rahul, Mr. Sujal, Mr. Shubham, Mr. Mihir, Mr. Vaibhav, and Mr. Dhruv.
