As part of the academic curriculum and practical learning initiative, Vidhyadeep Law College organized an educational visit to Kim Police Station on 23rd August 2025. The objective of the visit was to provide students with first-hand knowledge of the functioning, structure, and duties of the police system in India.
Objectives of the Visit
·        To understand the organizational structure and daily functioning of a police station.
·        To gain practical insights into crime registration, investigation, and maintenance of law and order.
·        To interact with police officials and learn about their roles, responsibilities, and challenges.
·        To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge of law and its real-life application.

Proceedings of the Visit
1.     Welcome & Orientation:
The students were warmly welcomed by the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and staff of Kim Police Station. An introductory session was conducted to brief the students about the history and jurisdiction of the station.
2.     Understanding Police Records:
The students were shown important registers such as FIR Register, General Diary, and records of cases. They were explained how complaints are filed and processed under the Criminal Procedure Code.
3.     Crime Investigation Process:
Officers described the step-by-step process of investigation, from lodging of FIR, evidence collection, witness statements, to the filing of charge sheet in court.
4.     Tour of the Premises:
Students visited different sections of the police station including the lock-up room, investigation room, weapon storage area, and duty officer’s desk.
5.     Interactive Session:
A Question-Answer session was held where students raised queries about cybercrime, women protection laws, bail procedures, and preventive detention, POSCO. The officers patiently clarified each doubt with practical examples.

·        The role of police in safeguarding citizens’ rights while balancing strict enforcement of law.
·        Importance of coordination between police, judiciary, and public.
Conclusion
The visit to Kim Police Station proved to be highly informative and insightful for the law students. It not only deepened their understanding of policing and criminal justice administration but also inspired them to uphold legal values in society.
