The “Rakhi Making Competition†Celebration, organized by the Vidhyadeep Institute of Commerce on 7th August 2025, was a delightful cultural event that aimed to promote creativity, tradition, and student engagement. Held in E-Building, Room No. 302, the event was coordinated under the guidance of Ms. Rinal Patel and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 13 students representing various semesters of the B.Com and M.Com programs. The event was conducted as part of the institute’s initiatives to integrate cultural learning with artistic expression.
The competition was organized to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, a festival that symbolizes protection, affection, and the strong emotional bond shared between brothers and sisters. In keeping with the spirit of the festival, students were encouraged to design handmade rakhis using eco-friendly, creative, and traditional materials. The objective was to inspire students to explore innovative ideas while appreciating the cultural heritage associated with Raksha Bandhan.
Participants enthusiastically engaged in crafting beautiful rakhis using colourful threads, beads, silk fabric, mirrors, pearls, decorative stones, and natural materials. The creativity displayed by the students transformed the room into a lively space filled with cultural energy and artistic excitement. Every participant demonstrated unique skills and imaginative concepts, creating rakhis that showcased both traditional motifs and contemporary design elements.
The judging panel consisted of Mrs. Priti Dhimmar and Dr. Naresh Rohit, who played a crucial role in evaluating the entries. Each rakhi was assessed based on neatness, innovation, colour combinations, theme representation, and overall aesthetic appeal. The judges were highly impressed with the thoughtful designs and detailed craftsmanship demonstrated by the students.
The winners of the competition were declared as follows:
 First Place – Shalu Sanjeev (S.Y B.Com, Sem 3)
Second Place – Moni Yadav (S.Y B.Com, Sem 3)
Third Place – Ishika Surti (S.Y B.Com, Sem 3)
The panel praised the students for their dedication, effort, and creativity. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks to all participants, faculty members, judges, and volunteers who contributed to its smooth execution. The organizing committee ensured that the competition ran seamlessly and maintained fairness throughout the judging process.
This Rakhi Making Competition was not only a celebration of culture but also a platform for students to express their creativity and strengthen cultural awareness. It reinforced Vidhyadeep University’s commitment to holistic education by nurturing artistic skills, promoting tradition, and encouraging active student participation.
