The Diploma Engineering Department organized an Industrial Visit to Vijay Cement Product Ltd. on 7th March 2025. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to cement product manufacturing processes and to emphasize the importance of safety in industrial practices. A total of 100 students and 6 faculty members participated in the visit, which commenced at 2:30 pm.
Objectives
To understand the end-to-end process of cement product manufacturing.
To gain knowledge about modern technologies and innovations used in production.
To learn about project scheduling and workflow management in industries.
To develop awareness regarding industrial safety measures and precautions.
To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
Observations
The visit began with safety instructions delivered by the resource person, highlighting precautions such as wearing proper footwear and following safety guidelines during the tour.
Students were introduced to the manufacturing process of various cement products, including pipe joints, culverts, and water tanks. The resource person explained the correct proportion of raw materials required for each product to achieve durability and strength.
Students observed equipment such as moulds, concrete mixers, and bar bending machines. Each stage of the manufacturing process was explained in detail, helping students connect classroom learning with real industrial practices. Additionally, strong emphasis was placed on the importance of safety and the precautions necessary during production.
