The Civil Engineering Department of Vidhyadeep Institute of Engineering and Technology conducted an Expert Talk on “Structural Design Fundamentals†for undergraduate students on 23rd August 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Vidhyadeep University Campus. The event was designed to enhance students’ understanding of structural design principles and provide exposure to real-world practices.
The session began with a welcome and introduction of the guest speaker by Miss Roshni Patel. The talk was delivered by Mr. Mayank Patel, Founder & Director of Agratas Group & Agratas Infra LLP, who has more than 12 years of experience in construction and site management. He shared his expertise on key topics such as principles of structural design, different types of loads and their effects, Limit State Design versus Working Stress Method, the importance of material selection, and ensuring safety and stability in structures. He also highlighted real-life case studies from construction projects to help students connect theoretical concepts with practical applications.
In addition to the classroom discussion, students were taken to an ongoing construction site at the Vidhyadeep Campus. Here, Mr. Patel demonstrated how structural design principles are applied in real time, which gave students a hands-on learning experience.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by HOD Mr. Divyesh K Patel and Principal Dr. Vikas J Patel, appreciating the efforts of the speaker and participants.
Outcomes of the event included:
