The Community Medicine Skillathon 360°: Station to Skill to Success was a landmark educational event held on February 13, 2026, at Vidhyadeep University, Anita, Kim, Surat. Designed specifically for 3rd-year CBDC students, the program aimed to revolutionize the way students perceive and practice public health. The atmosphere at the Seminar Hall was electric as students transformed academic concepts into tangible health solutions. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Vipul Shastri, a renowned Provost and Principal, whose presence inspired the participants to pursue excellence in the field of preventive and social medicine.
The meticulous execution of the Skillathon was a result of the collective efforts of the organizing committee, led by Event Coordinator and Dean of the Faculty of Homoeopathy, Dr. Pankaj Lathiya, alongside Dr. D’Souza, Dr. Piyush Gujarathi, and Dr. Mona Shah. To ensure the highest standards of evaluation, the university invited distinguished experts Dr. Vipul Chaudhary (Associate Professor, Government Medical College, Surat) and Dr. Zankhana Desai (HOD and Professor) to serve as judges. Their deep expertise provided students with invaluable insights and constructive feedback on their projects.
The competition was divided into two high-energy categories: Model Creation and the Reel Competition. In the Model Creation category, 16 groups competed, with Group 4 taking the top spot for their detailed "Life Cycle of Malarial Parasite." Other notable winners included projects on Helminths, the National Immunization Schedule, and Filariasis. The Reel Competition brought a modern, digital twist to health education, where Group 1’s creative take on "Septic Tank Latrine" secured the first rank, followed by insightful presentations on family planning and insanitary wells.
Beyond the trophies, the learning outcomes were profound. Participants gained hands-on experience, developed critical problem-solving abilities, and learned the nuances of teamwork and collaboration. By exposing students to real-world scenarios, the Skillathon effectively prepared them for the complexities of community medicine challenges. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Ekta Virani and Dr. Piyush Gujarathi, recognizing the hard work of Dr. Radhika Mangukiya and the dedicated team of 3rd-year student managers who ensured the event’s seamless success.
