The Department of Electrical Engineering successfully organized a one-day theory-cum-practical workshop titled A Comprehensive Theory-cum-Practical Workshop on Energy Conservation Awareness on 27 February 2026 at Room A-114. The workshop was specially arranged for students of the 4th, 6th, and 8th semesters with the objective of strengthening their understanding of energy conservation principles and practical energy management techniques. A total of 37 students actively participated in the session, which was conducted by Mr. R. M. Panchal and Mr. D. N. Shah, both of whom shared valuable academic and practical insights.

The primary focus of the workshop was to create awareness about the current energy scenario in India and to highlight the growing need for efficient energy utilization. The speakers discussed the increasing demand for electrical energy, challenges in power generation, and the importance of adopting sustainable practices to reduce energy wastage. Students were introduced to practical strategies for minimizing electricity consumption in residential, commercial, and industrial setups.

An important segment of the workshop covered the understanding of electricity tariff structures and the systematic analysis of electricity bills. Participants were guided on how to interpret various components of a power bill, such as fixed charges, energy charges, maximum demand charges, and power factor penalties. This helped students identify potential cost-saving opportunities and understand how proper load management can significantly reduce electricity expenses.

The concept of Energy Audit was explained in detail, including its objectives, types, and methodology. The resource persons elaborated on the steps involved in conducting a basic energy audit, from data collection to analysis and recommendation. Practical demonstrations were conducted using essential energy audit instruments such as clip-on meters and stroboscopes, enabling students to gain hands-on experience and relate theoretical concepts to real-world applications.

The workshop was interactive and engaging, encouraging students to ask questions and participate in discussions. Overall, the program successfully achieved its objective of promoting energy conservation awareness and equipping students with practical knowledge to become responsible and energy-conscious engineers.
